Immune cell discovery could help develop cancer vaccine

Scientists have increased hope of a significant cancer breakthrough after researchers worked out how the body’s immune system targets cancer cells.
According to new research, a type of immune cell is able to recognise and attack a protein behind cancer growth. The research has been led by Southampton’s Professor Salim Khakoo.
This discovery brings real hope of more effective, and potentially less invasive, treatments for cancer.
