Revolutionary therapy cures patient’s ‘terminal’ cancer

When former royalty protection officer Allan Peters learned his cancer was terminal he began to put his affairs in order. He organised his own funeral and even received a letter of condolence from his former employer, King Charles.
Two years later, Allan is totally cancer free thanks to a revolutionary new treatment. Allan was one of the first patients to receive CAR (chimeric antigen receptor) T cell therapy, at University Hospital Southampton. CAR T cell therapy uses a patient’s own modified immune cells to kill off their cancer.
